The Associação Brasileira de Apoio e Desenvolvimento da Arte – Capoeira (ABADÁ – Capoeira), in English, translated as “The Brazilian Association for the Support and Development of the Art of Capoeira,” is a nonprofit organisation whose purpose is to spread and support Brazilian culture through the practice of Capoeira.
Mestre Camisa, José Tadeu Carneiro Cardoso, Founding President of ABADÁ-Capoeira and the one who developed our style, is based in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
ABADÁ-Capoeira’s style, standards, and philosophy focus on the idea that anyone can do Capoeira, a tool to empower the individual within a group. Everybody is equal trying to achieve common goals of self-knowledge and development, at the same time spread the knowledge about this Afro-Brazilian art, a symbol of resistance and resilience against injustice.
